Hydro / Power Line Construction

Skyline Operates primarily twin engine helicopters for this type of specialized work; however we do have authorization to conduct Class D operations with the A119 single engine helicopter as well.

Skyline Pilots have received formal training in "Flying in the Wire and Obstruction Environment" presented by Bob Feerst. Our Pilots have extensive experience which includes most aspects of power line construction:

  1. Steel setting
  2. Pole setting
  3. Sock line pulling with fly travellers
  4. Insulator hanging
  5. Beneath energized conductor belly slinging (5L 30-32)
  6. Between conductor longline slinging
  7. Bridge landings and all of the duties included in both wood and steel structure construction

Specializing in Power line work, our pilots have received training in live conductor flying and bare hand operations from the Haverfield facility in Pennsylvania

While most of our experience is in construction and servicing, Skyline pilots have logged many hours on patrols as well. Our Aviation Risk Analysis Process will look at your needs to tailor the type of helicopter required as well as the specialized skills required by our pilots to safely conduct business in the wire environment.
